Lumber Jill's Axe Throwing Lounge is Summerville's axe throwing lounge — a place for groups from across Charleston and the Lowcountry to take a lane, get coached, and make some noise.
The name is a nod to the Women's Timber Corps, Britain's WWII forestry service. In 1942, thousands of women — nicknamed Lumberjills — stepped into the woods and the mills. They felled trees, hauled timber, and ran the lumber yards that kept the war effort in wood while the men were overseas.
It was hard, skilled, physical work, and they earned a reputation as Britain's answer to Rosie the Riveter. That kind of grit deserved a name on the door.
No experience required, no judgment given. Just private lanes, coaches who know what they're doing, and a room that gets loud when someone finally hits the bullseye.
